Short Film Competition 2017

On the last day of the seventh edition of Vientianale International Film Festival, on Sunday 26 March, we screened a record number of 41 brand new Lao short films in our short film competition, including films from Luang Prabang, Champassak and Xieng Khoung provinces, and awarded the winners. This year we are happy to announce that Vientianale Awards has grown with six new award categories, thanks to the support of established and up-and-coming Lao film production houses: Lao New Wave Cinema, Lao Art Media, Lao Motion Pictures, Mind Media and Cine Art.

A big thank you to our special guest jury for watching all the new short films and selecting this year’s winners:

Anyxay Keola, one of Laos’ most promising and talented film directors is the co-founder of Lao New Wave Cinema. His movies often focus on social change, as reflected in his latest production Noy above it all.

ອານິໄຊ ແກ້ວລາ ເປັນຜູ້ກໍາກັບລາວ ທີ່ມີຄວາມສາມາດ ພ້ອມທັງເປັນ ຜູ້ຮ່ວມກໍ່ຕັ້ງ ລາວນິວເວບ. ຮູບເງົາຂອງເພີ່ນ ສ່ອງແສງໃຫ້ເຫັນ ການປ່ຽນແປງຂອງສັງຄົມໃນລາວ, ກັບຜົນງານຫຼ້າສຸດເລື່ອງ ນ້ອຍ”.

 

Simmany Keokene has worked at the Department of Cinema, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism for over 20 years. Her various roles have included script editor and assistant director. She is currently head of the Film Control Section.

ສີມານີ ແກ້ວແກນ ເຮັດວວຽກຢູ່ກົມຮູບເງົາ, ກະຊວງຖະແຫຼ່ງຂ່າວ ວັດທະນະທໍາ ແລະ ທ່ອງທ່ຽວ ມາຫຼາຍກ່ວາ 20ປີ ໃນຫຼາກຫຼາຍຕໍາແໜ່ງ ລວມທັງ ຜູ້ກວດແກ້ບົດເລື່ອງຮູບເງົາ ແລະ ຜູ້ຊ່ວຍຜູ້ກໍາກັບ. ປະຈຸບັນ ປະຈໍາຢູ່ ພະແນກ ຄຸ້ມຄອງຮູບເງົາ.

 

Young Ran Kim is an experienced Korean filmmaker and instructor. She has shared her knowledge and skills with her students for over 15 years and is currently teaching her art at the Department of Mass Communication, National University of Laos.

ຢູງ ຣັນ ກິມ ເປັນຜູ້ກໍາກັບເກົາຫຼີ ທີ່ມີປະສົບການ ແລະ ອາຈານວີຊາສະເພາະດ້ານຮູບເງົາ. ເພີ່ນຖ່າຍທອດ ຄວາມຮູ້ຄວາມສາມາດ ແລະ ທັກສະ ສູ່ນັກຮຽນ ມາຫຼາຍກ່ວາ 15ປີ ເຊິ່ງ ປະຈຸບັນ ສອນທີ່ ຄະນະ ສື່ມວນຊົນ ທີ່ມະຫາວິທະຍາໄລແຫ່ງຊາດ.

 

Douangmany Soliphanh is the Vice President of Laos’ first private film production company Lao Art Media. He has worked as scriptwriter, producer and actor on the company’s productions for over 15 years, including Mattie Do’s films Chanthaly and Dearest Sister.

ດວງມະນີ ສໍລີພັນ ເປັນ ຮອງປະທານ ຂອງບໍລິສັດ ແຫ່ງທໍາອິດ ທີ່ຜະລິດຮູບເງົາ : ລາວອາດມີເດຍ. ຜ່ານມາຫຼາຍກ່ວາ 15ປີ, ເພີ່ນ ໄດ້ສ້າງຜົນງານ ເປັນ ນັກແຕ່ງບົດຮູບເງົາ, ຜູ້ກໍາກັບ ແລະ ນັກສະແດງ ໃນຜົນງານຂອງບໍລິສັດ, ລວມທັງ ຮູບເງົາ ຂັນທະລີ ແລະ ນ້ອງຮັກ.

 

Phoumsana Sirivongsa, better known by his stage name Jear Pacific, first found fame as a comedian. His experience as lead actor in the Lao hit Hak Aum Lam propelled him into the world of filmmaking. Jear is now on his way to establishing himself as a successful director, following his two first comedy hits Really Love 1 and 2.

ພູມຊະນະ ສີຣິວົງສາ, ທີ່ ເປັນທີ່ຮູ້ຈັກໃນນາມ ຊື່ນັກສະແດງ ເຈຍ ປາຊີຟິກ. ໄດ້ກ້າວເຂົ້າສູ່ວົງການຮູບເງົາ ດ້ວຍ ການເປັນ ນັກສະແດງເອກໃນ ເລື່ອງ ຮັກອໍ່າລໍ່າ. ມາປະຈຸບັນ ເຈຍ ກ້າວມາເປັນ ຜູ້ກໍາກັບຮູບເງົາທີ່ປະສົບຜົນສໍາເລັດ ກັບຜົນງານ 2ເລື່ອງ ກໍ່ຄື ຮັກອີ່ຫຼີ່ ພາກ 1 ແລະ ພາກ 2.
