“If bees were to disappear from the globe, mankind would only have four years left to live.” – Albert Einstein

More Than Honey explores this idea through an in-depth look at the dramatically changing world of honeybee colonies in Switzerland, California, China and Australia. Each country has adapted to the reality of a dwindling global population of bees by employing different techniques; from China, where bees have been replaced by human labourers, to California, where the honeybees have become a full-blown industry which includes high-tech machinery and trucks shipping bee colonies between orchards. Upon its release, the film won the Best Documentary category at the Swiss Film Prize, German Film Awards, Bavarian Film Awards, and the Romy Gala in Austria.
