EVENTS

The 2nd Vientianale is not just about watching films but also about bringing the community together to share ideas, to learn something new and just have fun.

The supporting programme will include:

Vientianale concert:

A highlight of the festival not to be missed. Come out and enjoy performances by Lao pop star Aluna and rock band ULUVUS.

National Cultural Hall car park, Saturday May 14th, 8pm

Literature fair

Throughout the festival, a literature fair will be held in the National Cultural Hall’s main lobby. Between films, feel free to relax at our reading corner, where you can enjoy a wide selection of books about Laos. A good way to link and further ideas between cinema and literature.

Photo exhibition

As cinema is a celebration of visual art, various local artists from the Beaux-arts school, local painters and photographers will present their work at the National Cultural Hall’s lobby throughout the festival.

Workshops

Since a festival is more than watching films, Vientianale offers 2 workshops for both the general public and filmmakers:

"Stop dreaming - how to make it!: If you have no previous experience in filmmaking but would like to produce your own film, then this workshop is for you! From finding a plot to directing, from editing to budgeting, find out how to make your own film with Singaporean filmmaker KM Lo. It will be held at PADETC on 11-13th May. Please email us if you are interested in participating: festival @ vientianale.org

"Camera and pictorial design": A workshop designed for filmmakers, this seminar will be organised by manfred Schmidt, a correspondent cameraman for Southwest German Television. It will be held at PADETC from 11-26th June. Please email us if you are interested in participating: festival @ vientianale.org
